Task 1 (TPACK). Grades of my classmates

Hi, I am María (analyst), and me and my group have evaluated the rest of the classmates following different criterias.

These are the marks of the rest of the expositions of my class.

Group 1:
I think they have exposed very well the contents.Although the poster was not very creative and it was very simple.

Group 2:
The exposition wasn't very dynamic, the content was limited, they didn't add more information about the topic.Furthermore the poster was normal although the creativity was good.

Group 3:
Their poster had a good design but I think that the content could be explained in another way to understand better the different knowledges.
I think that the creativity could be better.

Group 4:
I think that her explanation has been really good, although she speaks very fast, I suppose she was very nervous. The  creativity of the poster is great, so I think that is the best group that has explained this activity.

Group 5:
Their project was good,  and I think that they have learnt very well the concepts but their creativity is poor.

Group 6:
She explained well the concepts, their poster was clear enough. But I think that the contents weren't clear to understand well.

Group 7:
She defended the concepts, but sometimes the content was not very clear. I think that their poster is simple and not very original.

Group 8:
He explained very well. Their creativity is normal, although they refected it in a good way on the poster.

Hi! I´m Ana, the JOURNALIST. I think that after all, all the expositions were good (all the expositions, including my group had some fails or weakness, but that´s normal), so congratulations for everyone.
I attach some photos of the other´s groups murals.

Task 1 (TPACK). Analyst

Hi, I’m María and this week, I am the analyst. This role consists in evaluate the work of my group.Working as analyst is a complex role but very interesting and I recommend you. With this role I have learnt to improve different aspects of my group.

a. What was the best part of the activity?

I think that this subject requires a lot of effort for doing each activity, and of course me and my group have to concentrate and make the task as best as possible. We were very motivated about this first task.In relation with this task we really liked design the mind map and doing it in a different way, creative and original. So the best part of the activity was doing the mind map and collect previous information to design our model of TPACK.Also one of the best part is we have learnt to work as a group, interchange ideas and trying to innovate in the task as much as possible.

b. What was the worse?

Honestly I think that in this task we haven't had incovenient when we searched information.Maybe the problem was in how to focus the principal ideas in the mind map and also design TPACK in a creative way and not doing the typical model that we can search in Internet. In spite of this problems, we worked very hard to resolve all of them and trying to do it as well as possible.

c. What was the best moment of the week (in the work of the group)?

The best moment was when we met and linked all the parts of the robot. We are very enthusiastic about it and proud of our work.

d.What was the worse?

From my point of view  the worst moment of the week was when the ink of the robot´s shoes flowed to one of the cardboards extreme,we thought that we had to do all the things again and we had few time to do everything, however, we were lucky, because that exactly extreme was hidden by another cardboardso we weren't worried about that.

e.What have you learnt?

I think that with this activity we have learnt a lot of things about a different model of learning  which is very important because in contemporary societies technologies take part of our lives and childrens' live as well who spend a lot of time with computer, videogames, mobiles phone that we didn't know before. So teachers have to know integrate technologies in the classroom using for example whiteboards, interactive games for children and so on.They need it for an effective learning in the classroom.

Apart of it, with this task we have learnt also respect the ideas of each member of the group and using new technological tools like blogspot, rubric…Also one of the important things that we have learnt is working as a group

f.What do you need to conserve -as a group- for the next weeks?

For conservating my group, I think that we need innovative ideas, looking forward to work and good environment between us.Especially is important respect the ideas of each one for doing a good work

g.What do you need to improve –as a group- for the next weeks?

For improving my group we need to help each other and continue working like we have been doing these days ago.

h. How THIS content is related to other contents in the course and in
your degree?

I think that this content is related to the subjects that are developing during the course. For example, we have Scholar Organization and Educational Resources that use the model TPACK and other subjects are related to content knowledge such as language and English and pedagogical knowledge, such as, theories of education, developmental psychology, planning, educational psychology.

i.There is any evident social connection of this content (news, politics, etc.)?

This content has a social connection, for example, in educational system, teachers will have to teach their students with technological tools, using whiteboards,projector...As we know we live,of course,in a world in which technology takes part of our life.So in a way advances in societies promote this kind of model.

There is also a connection with politics.Depending on the politicians and their ways of leading, they can choose different ways to apply this model of learning in the curriculum.

Task 1 (TPACK). Journalist

Hi everyone! I am Ana, and I am the JOURNALIST this week. Today's article is an explanation of the process that we followed in order to do the TPACK (a model that is offered to teachers, related to an effective teaching and the interaction of knowledge and skills necessary for the effective integration of technology) activity and show you some photos of the process too.

First of all, I am going to explain the time spent in the TPACK activity: last Monday our School Organization and Educational Resources teacher proposed us an activity related to the TPACK model. After that, in groups, we started to discuss about how we could represent this model. Finally, we chose a robot as the centre of the mind map.

Why did we choose a robot? It is simple, the TPACK model combine technological knowledge with pedagogical and content knowledge, and we think that this technological knowledge could be express in the figure of a robot, which is formed by a computer ( advance technology: technological knowledge), a light bulb (due to the common representation of a light bulb such as a symbol of have an idea: content knowledge) and a screw (a screw must fit in with a nut, like a teacher with his or her students: pedagogical knowledge). In adittion, the robot represents the figure of a teacher, which needs the three components (technological, pegagogical and content knowledge) to function.

The second day was on Wednesday. On that day, we drew the computer, the light dumb and the screw on white cardboards and then we coloured them; Also, we drew the robot and some details such as the shoes or hands in a special material called “Goma EVA”, a plastic material with higher thickness than the cardboard that creates a 3D effect and a colourful design.
In addition, we had an excellent idea! Like bees, which are always busy, we decided to name our group Busy Bees and to wear bees ants and a star with our name, for example “Anastar”, “Miristar”, ”Bernastar”, ... during all the expositions of the group throughout the year. To complete the outfit and its features that will characterize our group, we decided that the “stars” of the group will wear glasses which have the form of a star. You will see the photos soon, at the end of the post!

The third day was on Thursday, at the School Organization and Educational Resources hour. We organized the information we had previously searched at home in order to prepare the presentation of the task and finished some details of the mural. Also we selected some images to represent the subjects of First Degree of Primary Education and prepared them.

We had a problem, because the ink of the robot´s shoes flowed to one of the cardboards extreme, however, we were lucky, because that exactly extreme was hidden by another cardboard, so we weren´t worried about that.
Here I attach a video in which some members wanted to surprise another member of the group by showing “accidentally” the spot of ink, nevertheless the result was not what we expected to be!

The last day was on Friday, and we met early in the morning at the university to finish the project. We wrote the rest of the information on the cardboards, drew some arrows with the purpose of giving a more schematical aspect to the mural and made a little change in the gears of the robot as some members believed that the class wouldn't appreciate them in the exposition which would be on Monday. Those changes were on three gears, one for each component of TPACK (Technological, Pedagogical and Content Knowledge), so we decided to use three complete gears with some arrows going out of them for a better emphasis on the necessity of the three components for the functioning of TPACK (in this case, the functioning of the robot).

We also glued many parts of the mural, but other parts were glued throughout the exposition, with a special material similar to a gum, with the goal of achieving a more dynamic and interactive explanation.

Finally, today was the exposition of our work.
We have had a problem due to our group was formed by 2 stars, so We had to changed It at that moment such my colleage Gracia explained on her post (http://busybeestakeiteasy.blogspot.com/2015/02/task-1tpackstar.html?spref=tw).
I think that she got off the exposition well after all.

I attach some photos and video that I toke this morning of the mural. I also toke some photos of the other murals that belong to the others group os the class, but We will publish them in another post with the marks that We assigned to them.

Finally, the second part of my role consist on explore and comment a blog from inside the class and other from outside the class.

From inside the class I selected the "Merkats" group: http://meerkatsoyer1415.blogspot.com.es

I chose this group because I like how its star explained the TPACK task, but I have to write that the creativity of the mural was lacking.
I commented on the star post, which is this: http://meerkatsoyer1415.blogspot.com.es/2015/02/tpack-presentation-stars-pov.html?showComment=1424197522270#c8116992797399045531

As I commented on that post, I like how the star carried out the exposition, however, if the improve their mural for the next time, they will have a fantastic exposition, in other words, on my point of view is more important the content and the form of expression that the star had than they creativity of the mural.

From outside the class I decided to comment a post that resulted me very interesting. The author explain the TPACK model and wrote his opinion about it. He asked for some answer of people, so I could read many opinions of this model, and, of course, I write my opinion (at this moment my answer is in process to be accepted, so I prefer to put an image to be secure that all of you can read my answer).

The post is this:http://ictevangelist.com/technological-pedagogical-and-content-knowledge/#comment-389860

And here is my answer:

I hope you enjoy reading my post!

XO XO, Busy Bees

Task 1 (TPACK). Facilitator

Hello my busy bees!!
Throughout this week I have been the facilitator of this group. I have to say that at first I was very confused because this way of working is new for all of us, but with the collaboration of all my colleagues all, it has been easy. :)
The work of this week was to discuss the TPACK. To make the explanation easier we decided to make a poster in which we represented TPACK  .
Our curator -farmer , Miriam draws very well so here I decided that she was in charge of making the main drawing with the company of our Analyst, Maria . The rest of the group (Ana, Maria José, Bernabé, Gracia, Yolanda and me) did a search on TPACK as definition, objectives, goals...
Finally we all work together to represent the information in the poster.

I have to say I really enjoyed this experience as Facilitator and of course I have to say I am very proud of my team and our work

Zzzzzzzzze you soon!

Task 1 (TPACK). Star

Hello people!!! My name is Gracia and I am the star this week. This week, the role of the star consists in carrying out an exposition about the TPACK model with a poster. During this week I have felt very confidence and we have worked very hard in the TPACK task, because we wanted to do an original and creative work, but the problem appeared when we realized that only one could be the star so we had to choose one of us to do the exposition ,and I was chosen.

I felt very nervous because firstly I was going to do the exposition with my colleague, but then I felt alone and with a lot of responsibility and I thought that I could not do all the exposition by myself and I was worried because if I do it bad the hole group will have a bad mark.
Instead of this fact, I do the exposition the better I could do and I started to explain all the contents to my partners of the class.

With this exposition I have learnt how to focus my nerves and relax myself when I am doing expositions. Before this task, I had not heard nothing about TPACK, so I can say that I have learnt a lot of this model and I think that it is very useful.

Although I have felt in this way, I have to recognized that this have been a good experience to improve my weaknesses (nerves, insecurity, intimidated..) and to work harder next time.

And finally, here you have some photos of my presentation!!!!

Zzzzzzze yosoon!!!

Task 1 (TPACK). Translator

Hi everyone! :)
I am María José, one of the members of the group Busy Bees and this week I am the TRANSLATOR. My role consists in selecting five important concepts about the task that we have done. This is my first time so I 'm going to try to explain it as well as possible. The five concepts that we have learnt this week are the following:

TPACK (Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge): TPACK TPACK is a model that is offered to teachers, a mental structure for thinking about the different areas of knowledge related to an effective teaching and the interaction of knowledge and skills necessary for the effective integration of technology. It is composed by three kinds of knowledge (technology, pedagogy and content) and their interactions: TCK (Technological Content knowledge), TPK (Technological Pedagogical Knowledge) and PCK (Pedagogical Content Knowledge).

TCK (Technological Content knowledge): how teachers choose tool and technological resources that will help students to learn contends curricular programs.Furthermore, they have to know what technologies are more useful to present the content.

TPK (Technological Pedagogical Knowledge): Knowledge of how to teach well with new tools and technological resources

PCK (Pedagogical Content Knowledge): know what to teach and how to teach it. It includes the essential interests of teaching, learning, curriculum, assessment and reporting, and also the relationship between curriculum, assessment and pedagogy.

CK (Content Knowledge): knowledge of what it is teaching. In other words Content knowledge alludes to the theories, concepts or ideas of mathematics, art, science… that would be taught in class.

Here you have the references that I have used to define these concepts:
  • Mark Fijor. New school technology (October 2011). TPACK-in-action
  • Koehler, M. J., & Mishra, P. (2009). What is technological pedagogical content knowledge? Contemporary Issues in Technology and Teacher Education, 9(1), 60-70.

Task 1(TPACK).Curator-Farmer

Hi bees!! :)
My name is Miriam Peña Izquierdo and this week I am the CURATOR-FARMER, I have been in charge of compiling and organizing the theoretical references in APA style, that the group has used on this week activity: TPACK, in a mind map tool.

I have used a mind map tool called ''ExamTime'' (http://www.examtime.com). It has been quite easy to use, so, if you want to start using mind maps and you do not know which tool you should use, I recommend ExamTime definetely!.

Sorry because the blog does not let me upload enlarged the picture.

I hope you like it!
See you soon!

Bzzzz

Task 1 (TPACK). Information

Here you have the information that the Busy Bees exposed yesterday!! :)

In this exposition we are going to talk about TPACK. The first question that we have to do ourselves is: what is TPACK? Why TPACK is so important in learning processes in contemporary societies?

TPACK is a model that is offered to teachers, a mental structure for thinking about the different areas of knowledge related to an effective teaching and the interaction of knowledge and skills necessary for the effective integration of technology. The idea of TPACK was developed by teachers of education in the University of Michigan.

The scheme proposes a new kind of knowledge that appears with the inclusion of technology in the classroom. Teachers need three kinds of intersecting knowledge to be able to integrate technology effectively; firstly we have Pedagogical Knowledge (knowledge of how to teach in an effectively way) and secondly Content Knowledge (knowledge of what it is teaching, the content of the subjects such as concepts, theories…).

As we can see in the diagram these kinds of knowledge intersects. It is necessary because Pedagogical Knowledge and Content Knowledge is not enough for helping students to learn in an effective way.
Teachers need another kind of knowledge as well; they need Pedagogical content knowledge (know what to teach and how to teach it).
Technology Knowledge appears later (It is a knowledge of how to use technologies).

We know that technologies are part of our lives and the technological advances are faster every time. Furthermore it plays an important role in childrens' life too, who spend a lot of time with new technologies (computer, iPod...), so the inclusion of technology in the classroom could be a way to promote an effective learning (using computers, whiteboards, interactive games...). Accordingly it is necessary that school teachers have knowledge about it.

So with the integration of Technology Knowledge, as we can see, appears other kinds of knowledge: Technological content knowledge (how teachers choose tool and technological resources that will help students to learn contends curricular programs) and Technological pedagogical knowledge (Knowledge of how to teach well with new tools and technological resources).

All of these things form Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK)
At the same time among these kinds of knowledge there are other contexts that also influence on teachers in the integration of technology in the classroom such as: available technologies, access, time, students' knowledge, teachers' knowledge, socioeconomic status, family knowledge and so on.

In relation to our degree we can say that our subjects  have relation with these types of knowledge. Now we are going to classify them:

CONTENT KNOWLEDGE
●    ENGLISH
●    LANGUAGE

In this subjects as we can see in the curriculum the principal objective is to be able to understand express oneself correctly (in the cases of English and language).

PEDAGOGICAL KNOWLEDGE
●    STUDENTS DIVERSITY AND TUTORIAL ACTION
●    DEVELOPMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY
●    EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY
●    THEORIES OF EDUCATION

In these subjects the fundamental objective is acquire abilities and knowledge to teach children in a good way, so they could learn a lot.

TPACK
●    TIC
●    SCHOLAR ORGANIZATION AND RESOURCES IN EDUCATION
●    PLANNING
●    SOCIOLOGY OF EDUCATION

These subjects contain the three elements of the TPACK (technological, pedagogical and content knowledge)

So we can conclude saying that in our degree TPACK takes part in the most of the subjects, so this model is very important in learning processes and as a future teachers we have to learn it to teach our students in an effective way.

Task 0. Illustrating Words

Hi everyone!
The previous Monday (2sd of February) the Busy Bees and the rest of the class realized an activity, proposed by our School Organization and Educational Resources teacher, which consisted in represent some words with drawings. She gives three words to each group written in a piece of paper, each group had to express the words drawing how they interpret them. Later, the teacher collected the draws and shared out three draws to each group, with all the words and some extra words written on the blackboard, each group had to guess what is the drawing meaning.
 Wide

-Have you had any problem illustrating the concepts?
Firstly, we had difficulties to understand the meaning of some words, and then we had to look for them in the translator. We had problems because each member thought on a different concept of each word so we agreed the drawings and we had no major problems. At first, Miriam started drawing, because she do it very well, but she did not do all the work, the rest of us handed out the other words and we started to draw.
It was fun to play this game and we discussed it with the other groups.

Belligerent

Tactics

- How it is easier to know what is the concept, with a drawing? Or with a picture?
It was not very easy, because we had different concepts in relation with the ones of the other groups. We hit two of the three pictures, but in our point of view, the picture we did not hit was due to it has no correlation with the concept that they wanted to represent.
- Messages in illustrations help to clarify the concept?
Lots of pictures didn't have relation with the concept that they wanted to represent. But it is true that understanding one concept with a drawing is easier that with a word, because it is more representative.
- Why do you think the other group have had problems to guess the Word?
We think that the other groups did not have problems to guess the words that we represent in our pictures because they did it very well. In conclusion we can say that we are good artists.

REFLECTION
The Busy Bees think that this activity is so important even though some people could think that it was a stupid and very easy activity. When we talked about how represent each word we realized that each member of the group interpret each word in a different way, for example, the word “future” for some members was live in the space or another planet and for the others the presence of flying cars and very advances technologies.

 Future

Soon we agreement about how represent each word, maybe, it was our strengths, the facility to reach an agreement among all the members of the group, however, in contrast our weakness was that we could not understand very well what represent the draws of the others groups, and we differ interpreting those draws, for example, we can allude to a specific draw in which we can appreciate a boy and girl in love, and then the girl takes up with other boy so the first boy is very sad. Some of us related the draw with the word “indignantly”, but finally it was another word “stagnant”.

Stagnant

We think this activity was very interesting because it help us to reflect and to realize about the importance of expressing well that you want to think. Everyone interprets the draws in a different way. To sum up, we can say that everyone have a different way of interpret the reality but it doesn’t mean that one is better than the others. So with this activity we have learned that each of us has different perspectives in order to interpret the drawings and it was useful to learn new vocabulary too.

Week 1. Roles distribution

Hi bloggers! :)
This is our second post, we are so excited! We have to recognize that we have had problems with our first publication, but finally we have solved them.

Now, we are going to show you the distribution of the roles. We have chosen the roles according to the order of the names in Gracia´s WhatsApp.

FIRST WEEK
  1. FACILITATOR: Ainhoa López Gris
  2. JOURNALIST: Ana López Sánchez
  3. ANALYST: María Hernández Aguilera
  4. TRANSLATOR: María José Peñalver Oltra
  5. CURATOR-FARMER: Miriam Peña Izquierdo
  6. STARS: Yolanda Tudela Cotillas and Gracia María Rueda Rodríguez
  7. RESPONSIBLE: Bernabé Jiménez Valera

Bernabe was the last person who joined our group, so we put him in the last position.
The strategy that we have used to distribute the roles is turnover them weekly.
