Task 4 (The Dark side of Textbooks). Presentation of the Art Gallery

Welcome to the Art Gallery!!

Hi everyone!!!
I am Maria José and this week I am the responsible.
Here we attached you a presentation about the pieces of art that other groups in the class have done.
The alternative name that we have put to this activity that we have exposed in class is the following: "THE HELL OF TEXTBOOKS"
You can see the names that we have put on the work of other groups in this presentation.
Well, you will observe that this presentation is a bit different, we have used an easier tool to do it called EMAZE, and we recommend you a lot to do this kind of things; You will feel as if you were in an art gallery or museum so have a good time there ;)
To observe better the presentation, please watch it on full screen mode

Powered by emaze

The criteria that we have chosen in order to collect the pieces of art in this way are the following:
Firstly we have chosen comics because it is harder to understand than the infographics and it gives a general idea about the topic “the dark side of the textbooks”.
After that, we have selected the infographic as the last one because they contain more information about the topic and talk about the different problems that we can find with the textbooks.
We have organized all of them taking into account the clearly and the content (firstly from (–) to (+) more complete:

1. Powerpuff
2. Seven up
3. Power teachers
4. Merkats
5. Umpalumpas
6. Itschool
7. Platypus
8. Keep calm and Keep organized
     9. Busybees (we are the last for education, so we are not include in the criteria selected).

Task 4 (The Dark side of Textbooks). Grades of my classmates

Hello everyone!! I’m right back as the Analyst: Ouu yeah!. But now, I come back to show you our classmate’s grades.

Firstly, I have to say that we are impressed this week because every group has worked a lot on this task and the results are very good, so this is shown in the grades we have put to everyone.

The criteria that we have choosen to establish this order,as we said before,is the following: from (–) to (+) more complete.

         Power Puff Teachers:
The idea that they carried out was very original because they made their own photographs and they dressed up to do them to show that the classical way is not always correct. The only point that we can say is that the poster was a bit small so we could not appreciate very well their images. However, good work and nice photos!

·         7 up:
This group prepared a good presentation and they have answered our questions well. The message that they showed was pretty clear although they at least were a bit radical because they displayed a boy burning books. However, we like the poster so much and they did a good work because they make their own drawings.

·         Power teachers:
The Power teachers made a really original poster with funny characters, and the Star presented it so well and answered our questions correctly. We loved it, so well done!

·         Meerkats:
Meerkats' group made an interesting perspective to see the textbooks with a creative comic, they have shown their idea perfectly. The size of the poster was just the correct and we like it very much!

·         Umpalumpas:

This group made a simple but very clear poster, they showed their ideas really well and we understood what they wanted to present. It is an interesting work!

·         ItSchool:

This group showed us an attractive infographic with lots  and lots of graphs, it was curious and we enjoy it a lot!

·         Platypus:
They did an interesting poster with lots of facts and images, it was very iconic and the message shown was so clear. They are also a little bit radical because they presented a burned book and a guillotine. Nevertheless, we love the infographic and the work they have done!

·         Keep Calm & Be Organized:
Related to this group, we can say that they did an extremely good presentation. The Star put on the Darth Vader's mask and the Star Wars' music while they were presenting the poster, so it is pretty original and very authentic!

Task 4 (The Dark side of Textbooks). Analyst

Hi everybody!! I’m Miriam and this week I have been the Analyst of BussyBees Group! I hope you enjoy reading my post! See you Bzzz…

This week in School Organization and Educational Resources, we have to work in a very interesting Task named ''The Dark Side of Textbooks'', in which one we have to read some resources given by our teacher in order to do a presentation, against the use of textbooks as basic resources in a classroom, on Monday.

From my point of view, this activity was not so difficult because we have organized so well and finally we have done a pretty good work, so I can say that we are happy this week.

As far as I am concerned, it has been a very interesting Topic and a very interesting activity because we have learned things about books that we still didn´t know.

Although this week we have been very busy with lots of works and activities, we got the activity out just in time due to our hard working, the worst part of the activity was deciding when we would meet, but finally, we have solve it without any problems.

We are a good group so we have organized good together since the first day when we knew the activity suggested and we get on the job right away.

Furthermore, it is clear that we can say we have learned about the world behind the textbooks as an information and tools about what is it an info-graphic and how we can create and use one.

An info-graphic is a very useful tool that is designed to make the data easily understandable. Personally, I will use it in a future because it is an interesting and helpful tool. I should add that with ''Piktochat'' (an easily info-graphic design app) it is easy to create one.

According to the exposition, at first we have been a little bit nervous because we did not know how it would be until the last moment, it would be ‘’a surprise’’ that we had to solve on Monday, but finally, our Star Maria did a good work due to she studied a lot! Congratulations Maria!

To conclude, I can say that we are pleased with the work that we have done together during the week and with the good organization of the group, it has been one of the best weeks working as a team because, as time went by, we have known better and better each others, so we have learnt how to solve problems and how to do a good work all at once.
We are also glad with the information and things learned about textbooks, how they are not as good as we though they are and everything they hide behind them.

I hope you like reading my post!!

See you soon beesssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Task 4 (The Dark side of Textbooks). Journalist

Hello people!!! I am Gracia and this week I have been the journalist of BUSY BEES!!! I had to admit that I was waiting excited this role because I like a lot to take photos.

This week, the task 4 has consisted in “The dark side of the text books”. Firstly, we have had to read some articles and look for facts against textbooks (something that is not very difficult) and do an infographic, a comic or a twitter line. We decided to do an infographic with piktochart, a very useful tool.

On Monday, when the teacher explained us in how consists the task 4, Yoli, the facilitator, divided the articles, so we read them and on Wednesday we met on Luis Vives and we put in common the facts and the information that we had read, and we started to investigate how to use “piktochart”.

On Thursday, some of us did Skype and we talked about in which steps we were going to divide the inforgraphic and about the articles that we had read. Finally, we realized that textbooks are worst than we thought.

On Friday, we met on Luis Vives. Yoli, the facilitator was ill so she could not come but we did Skype with her and she was helping us like if she was there!!
While Miriam, Ana and Bernabe were starting the structure of the inphograpic, Maria Jose and Maria started to redact the information and Ainhoa and me were writing and resuming the facts, so we divided the work according to the advices of Yoli.

We had the idea of represent the problems of textbooks such as a school, in which each pillar represents a problem of the textbooks (ideological, economical, epistemological and educational). The main pilar (wich was in the center of the school) represents the teacher, who have an important role reproducing these ambits due to they depend a lot on textbooks.
In adicction, this pillar has a door and a window which mean that they have to open their minds and look for other alternatives instead of textbooks.

We had problems searching the photo of the school ( a school which has all the pillar that we wanted), but Miriam had a good idea, so we did the school with pieces of lego.

Here you can see some photos of our time working!!!

Some photos of the class on Monday, it was like a museum!!!

Our star María with our poster, she was explaining some doubts to our classmates!!

And finally... BUSY BEES after the expositions!!!

I have commented two blogs, one of our class and other from outside the class.

This is the blog that I chosen from the class:

From my class I have chosen the Meerkats´ blog, because I think that their comic was really interesting and from my point of view their work was one the best works of the class, and I have to admit that their star, Ana Elena, was very good, and she answered all the questions that we asked her, so congratulations for your comic!!

Here you can see the comment!

The blog that I have choosen outside the class is the next:

I started to look for blogs about the dark side of textbooks,in other words, bad and negative things about them. I found this blog and I read it and I realized that all the things thatthe author said were true. She had written about textbooks, that they are so bored and that there are a lot of alternatives instead of textbooks!!

And here you can see the comment:

Hope you have enjoyed reading this post!!! See you sooooooon!

Task 4 (The Dark side of Textbooks). Facilitator

Hello guys!!! I am Yolanda, the facilitator of this week!

Firstly, I have to recognise that this role was more interesting that I thought. Furthermore, I'm very susprised with the attitude of the members of busy bees because we have coordinated this week very well, I want to congratulate them!! Also, I have to admit that I really like my role this week, because I love to put order and to manage the groups of work.

The task of this week was "The Dark side of the textbooks". Firstly, we have had to read some articles and blogs that were about this topic. So, on Monday I divided the articles and blogs that we have to read among the members of my group. On Wednesday, we put in common the main information that we have found in our lectures and the facts that we have found against the textbooks.

On thursday, while some of the bees did skype and talked about in which steps we were going to divide the infographic, I did a timetable with the time that we had to do the tasks, and  the division of work for every bee for Friday. This is the timetable:

9:00- 9:30
 Order the facts
 Gracia, Ainoa and Yolanda.
9:00- 11:00
Information that the star should know
Maria José and María.
9:00- The end of the task
Infographic
Miriam, Ana  and Bernabé.

When every team finished his task, they should to help the other bees with the infographic until everything was finished.

On Friday, they met on Luis Vives, but I was ill... So, I was not able to go. However,  they worked according my advices and the timetable. Also, I did skype with them in order to helped them. I am very proud of my group, this week we have worked very hard!!

This is the result of our work:

I hope you have enjoyed it!!

Cheers!!!

Task 4 (The Dark side of Textbooks). Star

Hello everyone!
I am María and this week I am the star of the group Busy Bees!!  ^^

I am so worried for this role, because I am aware that it is one of the most difficult and stressed roles, but I want to do as better as possible.
At first, Me and my group have had to read some confidential resources about textbooks and their “dark side”.
So, I have had to study a little of  textbooks but of course I have had to explore the different facts of their dark side.

So, how do I explain the dark side of textbooks?

Through our poster, we want to represent a school, because it is the building that promotes the necessity to buy textbooks.
In the middle of the poster, we can see the TEACHER, because he/she plays one of the most important roles that is the transmission of the knowledge.
With the door we want to show that teachers have to “open their minds”, I mean, they not only have to focus in textbooks, they have to use other methods for the teaching process. They have to teach with other alternatives such as: ICT that is New Technology like: Digital books and other options are: oral teaching, teaching notes and so on.
And then, for showing facts against textbooks, I am focusing in the following ambits:

         -   Economical Ambit
-     -  Epistemological Ambit
-     -  Ideological Ambit
-     -  Educational Ambit

So, students will be more motivated and interested in their subjects with this new experience.
When I studied this information, I was very nervous on Monday for the presentation and of course with the “surprise activity”.
This activity consisted that the expositions are a kind of “piece of arts in a museum” and the rests of the groups have to see our info graphic and if they want, the will ask me whatever they want.
So , I was very surprised with this activity, but I had fun because the rest of my classmatesand my teacher say to me: “Well done María” or “ This poster is very clear and original”, an Iwas very happy for these comments.
This experience was incredible, and me and my group are very proud.

I hope you like it! :)

Task 4 (The Dark side of Textbooks). Translator

Heeeello my BUSY BEES!!!
I am AINHOA and this week I have been the TRANSLATOR. I like this role because in my opinion is interesting and important because you have that realise about any mistake. On the other hand the terms that I have  chosen this week are the next:

Text book: is an instrument mainly used in schools by students and teachers, usually there is a book for each subject and help them to lead a lesson.

Digital book: is an electronic version of a book that can be read in a digital device.

Infographic: is the representation of the information in a graphic which can be read and understood easily because show a large amount of data in a small space.

Timeline twitter: is a way in which all your followers can watch, know and read everything you do in twitter.

Thumbnail refers to a pictures in another version used in order to facilitate their search and organization. The most of searchers used this for doing the search easier.

I have chosen this words because in my opinion these are key word to understand the work for this week. It is necessary to know these terms in order to get understand what we did. I hope you agree with me.

Zzzzzzzzzze you soon!!
